Thank you Jay. I do see fighting and rapid swimming when lights go out.

Gotta love tangs…

Those are nips from other tangs.. or attempted nips but hard hits.

The other Tangs are systematically taking the lavender out of play. They'll keep hitting or nipping until its dead.

Sometimes things work out if the lavender stands it's ground but more often than not...no

Read above... how many Tangs are we talking in how big of a system?

I'm betting a dollar a donut that when it's sleeping time... it's like musical chairs.... everyone has their territorial sleeping spot except for this guy.

He's being chased out of areas with torpedo'ed bites or swipes of tail BARBs.

I know it sounds like a lot…and it probably is. But my aquascape is minimally done and I overshot my filtration system. Maybe I can add some pvc hiding spots?

Minimal rock means minimal hiding/sleeping spots. More rock work may actually help.

+1. For tanks with lots of fish the rock should be designed with the fish in mind for hiding, getting away and sleeping. A negative space design provides the least of what the fish generally need. Ie most stressful.

Can you provide me of some examples of how I can add more hiding spaces? I do feel like I need more rocks, but unsure of how to place them for fish comfort. Do I just make hills? How high am I supposed to go?

Sounds good. More real estate for corals, nitrifying/denitrifying bacteria, and copepod. I’m happy with this. I’ll purchase about 100 pounds of live rocks to boost my tank biodiversity too.

Pretty wicked aquascape but yes all of those tangs do need more caves/holes to hide in/sleep in.

Yeah, I’d build it around the bases of each structure. More smaller medium rocks that create lots of tunnels and caves. I plan mine with varying sizes of openings for different sized fish.

Nonono.... check out gulfliverock.com and kpaquatics.com

Added rocks. It looks a little messy because the rocks have a white new color. I’m sure once the rocks match the current structures it will look much better. I can see the fish feel much more secure already.
