Check out what happens to a Nirvana zoa that goes from lower light to high light 200+ par

Lower light <150 par

Exact same colony but I increased the lighting to 200+ par. They completely closed up for 2-3 weeks and are now opening back up but half the size

Got some new frags from Big E, I was able to stop by his place and see his tanks in person and wow they are amazing.

I really had to hold back from leaving with a lot more frags than the 4 I did get

Blue tort (huge chunky frag)

Red Planet (very nice freshly cut frag)

Aqua SD rainbow Milli (his mother colony was amazing)

And finally a Jason Fox Barney

I don't know what took me so long to find this. Looks like you and I are going to run into the exact same problem at like, the exact same time! That problem being too many acro frags in not enough space!

Lol, that is definitely an issue, I’m already on the lookout for another tank to plumb into this. I know I’m not here long term so I don’t want to go too big. I’m actually looking at the exact tank you have as the next addition. I kinda like the multiple tank look and they will be a lot easier to move.

Some pics of my frags starting to take off

no name frag I got from my local shop (it was all green when I got it)

red planet I recently got

my AOI’s are growing like crazy (this was a couple polyps 3 months ago)

I really like these WWC Vann Damm’s

my WWC Nuclear Fussion is starting to throw new branches

my montipora Confusa is really growing well

I can’t wait for my ASD Rainbow milli to take off

this was the first acro (WWC wintergreen acro) in the tank after I had my crash related to a move then a long vacation. It was a throw in with some zoas I got locally and well I really like how it’s doing

My WWC Regal Platy really stands out (this pic doesn’t do it justice)
69A59676-4A89-4939-825E-EF7B994EE654.jpeg

I like this combo, some fire and Ice, sand dollar monti and a WWC bloodshot austera that has completely encrusted the plug and I’m hoping it starts sending new branches soon

Well some people may think this is overkill on a small tank (they are actually harder to get good flow than larger tanks in my opinion) but I decided to put a third icecap 1k gyre on my 25g to add more flow over my acros. So far I like the results

I’m running 2 MP10’s at 80% on a 3’x12” floor plan. My acros love it, and half the tank is still needing more. I think you’ll be pleased with the results of additional flow.

Yeah you can never have too much flow, I actually have 2 mp10’s at 70% on my 24”x12” tank and I consider it not enough. The fact The tank is only 8” tall makes it hard to get good water movement with the way I have the rocks

Well I’m starting to see some shadowing on my sps so I’ve been trying to decide how to deal with it. I’ve considered a second 360x or a hybrid fixture but I’ve decided on orphek or2 bars. I really like my orphek atlantik so I figured I’d give the bars a chance. I’m going to go with one to start and probably add a second one at some point. I really like the streamlined look (I’m going to hang them from the ceiling). I went with the blues as I’ll turn the 360x more towards the white spectrum to compensate. Fingers crossed this will eliminate some of the shadowing issues as well as increase the par on the ends of the tank.

So I’ve decided to try and eliminate shadowing in the tank by adding some additional lighting. I’ve considered a couple routes (ati or geisman hybrid or a second Kessil) well I decided on a completely different solution which is an Orphek OR2 light bar. I love my atlantik v4 so I figured I’d give it a try.

i was able to mount it to the Kessil a Mount which has it 9” off the water. I was amazed at the par levels, at 6” under the water it adds 200 par across the whole back half of the tank and at the bottom of the tank it adds about 150 par. I’m going to start with 30 min a day which will put most of my acro’s at about 400 par (my target par for them). I will slowly increase the daily duration until I get it to 5 hrs a day.
