Well I needed some small emerald crabs and my lfs’s only had massive sized ones or none at all so I decided to stop at the one petco I consider to have a decent aquarium staff (their tanks actually look good and their fish and inverts don’t look half dead).

Well long story short I walked away with a deresa clam for $29.99. I’ve wanted to get a Tridacna clam for a while (I’ll admit maxima or crocea were my first choices) but my first clam over 20 years ago was a deresa so I figured for the price I couldn’t go wrong and it’s colors are actually pretty good (really bright blue rim and deep golden center)

It opened right up after a 45 min acclimation and I’m struggling to get a good pic because it’s very light sensitive so a good sign there as well. The foot was healthy and attached to a price of coral rubble so a lot of positive signs.

Well I may regret this later but I have always loved the look of urchins, especially longspine Diadema’s. Well I saw a couple at the store so I pulled the trigger and bought them since I needed some algae control and they are great for that

I also found a small maxima for a great price so I got it too

I love urchins. Without them, coralline would grow out of control in my tank. I have three tuxedos in my 90g. Only downfall with them is the frag kidnapping. [emoji16]

I’m not worried about what the urchin will do in the tank, I’m worried I will forget about it and stick myself lol

Nice! How much was the clam, if you don't mind me asking?
I got it for $29.99 at petco. They got it in from ORA the same day I picked it up. The deresa cost the same and was from ORA as well.

Hard to capture but the colors on this clam are amazing the mantle is deep purple almost black with bright blue dots all over it. I actually had to udjust my mp10’s in the 8g so they turn off every so often so I can look down on the rank and see this and the deresa
