I love the angled Amano style shots. This was always my favorite way to take pictures of my old planted tank

Well I got my first Black Friday special. I have wanted to get a backup return pump for a while and I just found a COR20 for $50 off so now I have a backup on the way. I currently have a COR15 but since the pumps are the same I figured I’d get the 20 so I can control it without the apex if needed.

Well I just left the tank unattended for 10 very nerve wracking days. Other than looking at apex to see that everything looked fine and quick check with a webcam I set up the tank was unattended the whole time. I was pretty nervous as I had major tank crash when I went on vacation for 16 days earlier this year. Well good news is everything is fine. Skimmer intake was plugged up with some bubble algae so my ph was low since I have a CO2 scrubber attached which caused my Alk to jump from 8.6 when I left to 9.6 today when I tested. Nitrates were at 5ppm and phosphate was at .06 so I have the dosing dialed in for that. Overall everything is health and grew while I was gone. Didn’t even need to clean the front glass.

I'm really digging the old planted now reef tank. Can't wait to have a bit more space!
Yeah 2020 may bring a new high tech planted tank (I have all the equipment just need the time) Right now I have a 6g for my wife’s betta and my 10 yr old paludarium still. It has a breeding pair of celestial pearl danios in the water section so we always have new babies down there. It’s a little neglected but overall it’s really healthy.

Let the testing begin (first test is what I would expect my alk to be so that’s good)

Well on my way back from watching the Pens win last night in Pittsburgh I decided to stop at The Reef Gallery in Zelienople PA. It was a nice little store with 2 great frag tanks full of nice corals at really good prices.

I walked away with a couple nice acro’s

This didn’t have a name but they told me it was a good grower and I liked the light blue growth with neon tips (and they gave me a great deal for a nice chunk frag)

In an effort to keep my hands out of my reef tank I decided to start a new project

here is my new open air bioactive vivarium (the plants are just fill ins until I add the permanent ones)
