Hi guys. Ive had this coral for a few weeks now and its the first coral I’ve bought. Its been opening and closing absolutely fine but today it hasn’t opened up at all. Checked all my water and everything is fine. Does anybody know why it might be doing this?

its likely sloughing which it will do every few weeks.
you may notice it shedding a bit which may upset the other corals in your system. if so, adding a little carbon will help mitigate the toxicity.

Thank you. How long does the process normally take? And i switched out the filter carbon this morning so that should be fine.

if i remember correctly it wasn't very long, somewhere between 1-3 days.
you'll slowly start to see polyps showing up in groups progressing to a nice extended coral.

These corals can be very temperamental sometimes. They open they close they open they close etc...

IME, lots and lots of chaotic flow seems to suit them best. (along with stable parameters)
A firm base is key. GL

I have a devils leather hand and when its happy its happy, when its having a cry it looks dead. Very temperamental when all parameters are fine and havnt chnaged.

It will more than likely start sheading, is it glossy this is when you know it is.. may take a couple days or a week. Mine shedded a couple times a month, I've had it for 3 months now.

Was going to get rid of it but now my blue tang loves to sleep in it at night.
