I'm thinking about going with a led fixture for a small refugium.
The refugium area in my sump is 10" x 17".
I am looking for a premade fixture. I am not interested in another diy project.
Other than the par 38 bulbs, what else is there?

Check out superbriteleds.com they have all kinds of LEDs

Any idea which fixture would be suitable for growing macro?

Had a offer from someone to build me a fixture for my 10" x 17" refugium with the correct color leds. But he wanted almost as much as I paid for the ATI Sunpower 6 x 24 watt fixture.

Macro Algae will grow fine under a Cool White LED. That said we found best growth mixing in a warmer Cool White to spread out the white spectrum. Also dont forget the 450-455nm range. The Cree XP-E and XR-E Cool White has all of this. Here is a pic of a PAR 38 We are using on our refuge.

You can also visit quite a few of our sponsors who specialize in LED lighting (such as ReefLEDLights | LED Aquarium Lighting Reef Aquarium Lighting ReefLEDLights | LED Aquarium Lighting) and help to make this site a great reefing community. I know you are aware of this mfinn. Just saying....

I am just starting to learn about leds.
I am a complete green rookie with leds.

Heck, I just dropped a mh fixture over a tank and went with a T5 fixture

Thanks everyone.

Here are my LED's for my sump/ refugium from Exotic Illuminations. It's a square 14Watt fixture with 6700k and 10,000k. I love it.

Here are some pics.

I went to lowes and purchased a 3500K PAR38 7-diode for about $43. It worked extremely well for cheato and other macro algaes. Also a lot cheaper than bulbs purchased online.
