Picked up an orange tail damsel today and I’m hoping it’s not going to be a huge mistake. Most of the fish in my DT are tough enough to handle any potential aggression…and the dominant female Anthias has already made her disposition very clear in that she HATES him….she’s chased him around all evening since introducing him.

I have a 2” damsel and when I added a 4” tomini tang the damsel was relentless and harassed non stop for several days, tearing up the tangs fins.

They get along now but I will not be adding another fish due to the damsel. He never bothered my anthias though

Best of luck! Maybe the damsel will be docile to the rest of your tank’s inhabitants

That’s what I’m hoping for. Most accounts I’ve read say that orange tails (C. cyanae) are on the lower end of the aggressive spectrum and this guy has been the last fish added with no plans of adding anything else. There’s only one fish that I’m concerned about potential harassment…the firefish. But that guy has always stood up to occasional chasing from the big purple tang and Anthias…always stands his ground.
