Have they always been like that or is this a recent development?

They have been like that since I got them. The bases of the polyps go translucent so I wasn’t sure if they were reaching for more light. Have them since second week of May. Lighting is currently reduced to 50% but I am going to raise it about 5% a week to see if any changes occur.

I currently run my blues at 70% and whites at 15% and my frog is on the sand. I’ve played around with the lighting a bit to make them happy. What are your water parameters? If those are good I guess adjusting lighting is something you could play around with.

Params are all within spec:

pH: 8.3
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 2
Phosphate: <.25ppm
Salinity: 35ppt
Alk: 9
Calcium: 450
Magnesium: 1480
Temp: 77

I read to not increase lighting more than 5% a week...any truth to this? Obviously I know not to increase it too fast, but just want to check!

Yes I increased mine slowly small increments . I started out with the same settings my lfs was using as it s the same lighting but found it was too much white. It took me awhile to find the sweet spot.

Sorry it’s so blue. How do I get this guy to open up more. I have tried putting in shade as well as little to no flow to see if it would open up but it always seems semi to fully retracted

Any clue what’s up with these extra long polyps? Seem to get bigger each day!

Those are the sweepers. On a hammer they can be half a foot long. That is how they attack corals half way across your tank.

Lol this is an old super doctored photo of my very first frogspawn.
Used this picture for my phone background.
