Winning today doesn't mean anything. When was the last time they won in October? Maybe that was a low blow...1908 was a long time ago...here in Pittsburgh we get spoiled by the fact that 1979 was quite a bit more recent. Shoot, the last time the Cubbies even played in a world series, WWII ending was recent news :snicker:

I was thinking more of the money that we as fans pump into the team. I agree with you though, the owners surely aren't putting any money into the team.

I heard one time that the Nuttings have paid for everything after opening day. Everything after that is just money for them. I actually knew one of them when I lived in wheeling. She had married into the family, but was a royal pain nonetheless. Still, you've gotta think after 16 straight losing seasons they might decide to do something a little different.
