I didn't even know you can still get it. When Fiji shut down years ago, I assumed that included all the live rock as well. I just saw that they are now placing rock and harvesting the (cultured) rock. Glad to see it's

Guys,

I use this new rock that I bought at my local high end coral store. You should check them out www.coral-vault.com

One day I was in the shop buying coral and the rep was there for the new man-made reef rock called Cornerstone Reef Rock. It's comes in two different types, branching and premium. The rock is man-made but the molds are made from real pieces of rock. I got a combination of the branching and the premium. Branching pieces look like tonga rock that we could get back in day and the premium is more like shelving and big chunks of live rock without the weight added.

One awesome thing about the rock is it doesn't leach anything when you put it in the tank. The rock is a fraction of the weight than normal live rock. On top of being light weight this rock is more porous than actual live rock. So it is the the best of both worlds, being light weight and more pores for that beneficial bacteria that we seek in our tanks.

The Cornerstone Reef Rock is very appealing to the eyes. You won't see any seams from the molds. I know we all hate seeing all that white rock when we first start out a tank, well the Cornerstone Reef Rock comes with artificial coraline algae on it. They really nailed the colors that we see from coraline algea. Now you can have the look of rock that has been in a system for years.

This rock is by far the nicest artificial rock I have seen in the hobby. I have tried others out there and there is no comparison.

Were just starting our 40g breeder but it’s got a whole hodge podge of different things. I think it’ll be nice when everything is colonized and together with corals but right now it looks like the Frankenstein tank it is.
