Since I just took down my 120 the
45 is packed. I replaced the 120 with an 80 48x24x16.
This will also be a frag system similar to the 45 with all 16hds.

I know this is slightly an older thread but:
When do you guys think it’s the best time to set up a frag system and what size do you consider the perfect size (Dimensions would be great too).

Here is my recent build....frags to come soon.... 20 gal going to be plumbed into my 50 gal sump with a 55 gal dt. Cabinet and dt coming soon. Sump being made from 6mm satin glass with all 6mil clear glass inserts. Work at a custom glass tempering facility so i get all glass for the low price of free99....the dt and frag tank will be housed on the same cabinet.

Also, do you think it’s best to grow out frags in the frag tank and then move them into the main display or use the frag tank to get established frags of coral colonies in the DT and then trade them in for other things?

Bedroom frag tank, waterbox peninsula nano, 15 gallons if im not mistaken. Running a Reefled 90, AM temp control, titanium 50w heater, fans, Kore 5th, jeboa slw and a Seneye. And a lot of homemade lasercut 16mm thick uv acrylic frag racks ;Happy

Hi. Just out of curiosity. How did you manage to mount the Reefled 90 to the back of the glass. As the mount requires a minimum of 8mm. While the glass thickness on the peninsula 15 is only 6mm thick. I’m wanting to use this light on my Waterbox peninsula 25 but worried about the weight as the light by itself weights nearly 1kg. I was going to use a shim to fill in the gap but unsure. Any advice/help would be great. Thanks

I didn't worry to much about the 6mm because it's on the back of an aio. So there are some glass baffles on either end. No problems so far, and I do bump into the tank stand sometimes..

Just using the standard mount, no shims or anything. Don't mind the salt creep..

Nice frag systems everyone! Frag tanks are great as an insurance policy and to just experiment with new ideas and techniques. Here is a video about mine. I've had a lot of fun with it, over the last 4 years.

I recovered some old pictures and videos recently so the video is poor quality and the videographer (me) is truly unskilled and really crappy. This video is from 2013 showing the LPS section. So many pictures and videos I can’t find though. Because it was only a mile and a half away from the shop, my friends and I pulled off using an Octagonal 65g Zero Edge aquarium and sump as the frag tank for a Coral Farmers Market. Like a Zero/Infinity Edge Pool, the water continually flows over the edge into a small trough and back to the sump. I gotta find those pictures.

Okay, had to finagle a new YouTube thing to link properly to Skynet. My apologies, please enjoy and have a pleasant afternoon.

Took some new shots of my frag tank and I guess I’ve never showed it off here before.

My concept is to have a good looking frag tank, so instead of having racks, I have a regular, albeit easier to use without glue rockwork.

I usually clear about 1/3 to 1/2 at a time, fill it back up with fresh cuttings, let it grow out for awhile and repeat, so I have some time to enjoy an ever changing frag tank, which is quite refreshing compared to my more serious main system.
