I’ve been QTing my corals for 2-3 months in a small 10g with a single AI Prime HD. That works great for most of my corals - softies and LPS generally fare well. This just doesn’t cut it for most SPS, though. Part of my issue is keeping the nutrients balanced in such a small tank with so much coral, but another part is the lighting - any time I’ve tried to QT an acro, it starts to lose flesh wherever the light casts a shadow, and it’s all downhill from there.

So I’m now in the process of converting my Nuvo Fusion 30g into a dedicated coral QT. I currently have an AP700 on this tank, but I also have an Orphek Atlantik v4 Compact sitting around. I plan on selling one and using the other for my QT. I need help deciding which one to go with.

The tank is 36” long and 13” tall. The length is a bit long for the Orphek, but if I offset it to one side a bit, I would have a really nice PAR range to work with so I could acclimate just by moving the corals from the darker side to the lighter side over time.

If you had to pick one, what would you choose?

The ap is only good for 7 inches deep for sps so id go with the orphek.
