Looking for lighting recommendations for a new Nuvo fusion pro 2 40 gallon AIO.

Thus far I’m looking at Hydra 32 or radion XR15 G6 pro.
Would love to hear if anyone has experience with lighting for this tank and any recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Hey James. To start off LPS and some softies. However, once established I would like to try some SPS. Thanks for answering.

Either will work for your goals, you will have to move acros way high up. Any other SPS will be fine.

My tank is an acro dominant IM25 lagoon. I had to supplement my XR15 G5 Blue with 24” led bars on either side to achieve even 300 par coverage.

Interesting. If you don’t mind me asking, do you prefer the blues over the pros? Also, I’m debating between G5 and G6. Any thoughts there? Thanks again.

I use the blue (I would change out to pro at some point as I like it to look a little less blue). They both grow coral equally well.

G5 XR30s are going for new G6 XR15 prices now. That might be the way to go.

Thank you very much for the tip! I’ll check out the 30s. Do you currently have 2 15s or 1?

Just 1 XR15 and 24” led bars.

1 xr 15 wont cut it but 2 will.
You could run 3 16hds. I supplement my 15 gen 5 blue with one.
This is my 36x24x12 frag system running 3 16hds. It gives better color than the 15, imo.
I also run 2 16hds on my 18" nano cube with excellent results.

Hey. I just ordered the same tank and am dying waiting for it to arrive! I was going to make the same post but I saw you already did and have the same questions I do... and it seems our goals are the same. Did you ever make a decision on the lights? I have 2 AI Primes over my mixed reef 40 breeder and the recommended 3 Primes over a 24" length seems like overkill... plus as much as I love my Primes id like to give something else a shot

I went with one radios xr15 G6 pro. I’m very happy with it. Don’t have SPS yet but all my lps corals are doing good. I think you can get away with 2 primes if you have them already.

I really like that light. Did you have to modify the screen top to use the side mounts or did it all work out?
It works fine without any modification. I slide the lid out from under the light. I just go slow so I don’t accidentally cause the light to fall.

I also added an acrylic feeding port from Octo Aquatics. So I only remove the lid for maintenance. the port comes in two sizes. I have the large on the 40 and the small on my new 25 lagoon.

If you do end up with the Razor, also pick up the icv6 so you can control through the app. While the light has built in control, it can be annoying using the dial. I will say having the light sit on the sides left a lot of room for equipment on the back. I chose the light so I’d have that extra space not consumed by light brackets.

My last tank was the IM Nuvo 40 aio. I had a few lights configurations ....

I tried 1 radion xr15 ....good for softies and LPS but not enough for sps except the montis. Montis grew great.

2 prime hds.... better than 1 XR15 and gave higher par . I could grow fuzzy sticks with these but the disco ball effect turned me off

1 XR30 with diffuser was my final choice. Good spread for the cube and no disco ball effect. Add a light shade and go with most corals.

You could go with 2 XR15 but you'll end up with 2 rms mounts and 2 power bricks to route.
