I am looking for some help. I am converting my freshwater tank to salt and am trying to figure out what’s needed for lighting. I am wanting to get reefbreeder v2 lighting but have a few questions. As you can see from my picture below my hood is very shallow. What are my mounting options for a hood of this style? Will the reefbreeders produce too much heat without hood fans? The back of the hood is open so I don’t think I will have venting issues but I am not sure. It’s a 6 ft tank so I know I will need 2 strips
To get good coverage but will being that close to the water be an issue? I will probably be 6-8” above water once mounted. Lastly I do have the glass covers over the tank. Does that change the rating on the lights since it has to pass through the glass?

My hood is not as shallow as yours. But I am running the rb photons v2 in my 75 gallon. My hood is probably 7" or less tall.
I do have a acrilic on my tank to protect from splashes. I also have a basement sump which allows air exchange and cooling. I mounted mine in the hood so it hanged about 1/2" below the wood to allow the fans in the fixture to blow thru. I also took out the lenses so you don't get the disco effect. You might be real close to the water (or covers) but the lights don't get hot as far as I seen in the past 7 years running them.
If you want I can take more detailed pics when I get out of work. You would have to make the call as far as space in the hood.

I would love to see a picture of how you mounted them. Thanks so much. I also have a sump in my tank. And I have glass lids so splashing won’t be an issue.

So it looks like I use some carriage bolts slid into where they have the holes for there mounting system. And I made some straps to mount them to the hood. Looks like I'm a little closer than I thought to, LOL. Looks more like a 1/16" than a1/2. On the left side is where the connector is and I drill the hole to go out the back of the hood with the wire. And you can see I took my lenses out. They come standard with 90° lenses but if you write Logan he can swap them out for the 120s I just opted take them out.

Thank you so much for taking these. It’s nice to hear feedback for the specific lights i am looking at.
