I am currently working on my Reef Pi build and am looking for a 24-gallon cube tank. I've learned that the newer Kessil A360s cannot be dimmed using the Pi. Therefore, I am seeking recommendations for alternative lights that are dimmable and capable of simulating day and night cycles. If necessary, I can also add moonlights. Although I am a bit of a beginner, I can generally follow Fritzing diagrams and solder. I would prefer more affordable lighting options, but I only need a light with a 24-inch radius.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Commercially a Nicrews gen2 and a converter board to change the pi pwm output to 0-10v.
The kessils will work as well since their dim protocol is 10v analog.

After conversion, any light that works w/ Apex will work w/ pi. Unfortunately most, if not all, aren't budget lights.
Module Working voltage: 15-30V DC (power requirement of power supply: >100MA), PWM signal receiving frequency range: 100HZ-3KHZ (1-3KHZ is recommended

3.3v or 5v pwm switchable

Why not build your own? They are rarely " pretty" though.

Unfortunately the Nicrew Gen2 lights don't work with 0-10v, sadly they removed that and now use a USB-C. I emailed them in December and they said they are actively developing a 3rd party control module that will allow external controllers with 0-10v to control it. I just followed up with them to see if it's available yet but I don't see it on their website so thinking not. I'll let you guys know.

If you go with Kessil lights you need to stick to the older models as the latest A360X isn't compatible with 0-10v, I believe only the H80, A80 and A160WE will work with 0-10v.

My bad, I meant the Nicrew gen 1 not 2.
As to Kessil and the a360x, that's odd.
Thanks for the info.

Yeah disappointing, getting hard to find lights with 0-10v.

I got a reply from Nicrew, they expect the 0-10v module for Gen 2 will be available in March.
