I seem to recall reading somewhere that the dots can develop into lines as the fish matures? I definitely remember something similar over here.

At first I was confused because it looked like someone used a slow shutter speed on their camera and the fish moved, like star trails show up in pictures lol Then I realized it was the pattern on the fish.
