This has been a long time coming. This build is unique (for now at least) in that it has no light. My main goal with this aquarium was to get it up and cycling as soon as possible and add equipment as I went.

So I got the aquarium in July and got it cycling at the end of the month. In September I added 30 lbs of TBS live rock and 20 lbs of live sand into my refugium area with the hopes of seeding the entire system.

I’m aiming to get the lights by late spring, early summer. While it isn’t my intention for having no lights, I am hoping the long black out period and Tampa bay bacteria helps minimize any super ugly period when I get my lights. This will be a heavy SPS system.

I currently have an orchid dottyback, gold assessor, harp tail blenny and brown spotted spine-foot in the aquarium. I have a spotbreast angel, Lamarck’s Angel and Smith’s Blenny in QT.

Equipment:
- Innovative Marine 200-INT
- Bashea Prosump 48”
- Ecotech Vortech L2
- MP40 x3 (one more remains)
- Reefmat 1200
- Apex Pro
- Deltec 1000i
- 2 ATI Straton Pro 204s

To buy:
- Triden NP
- Trident
- Geos Calcium reactor

Beautiful setup. How heavy was the tank to move if you don't mind me asking?

I hired two professional movers that work with a LFS. Both men were in their 50’s and they did it without any tools at all (aside from using a dolly in the house). No suction cups or anything. I was surprised. I think it’s about 500 to 600 pounds.

That is a heavy tank, wow. Also impressive they were able to move that without suction cups

Do you MP40’s stay attached to the glass? The glass seems just too thick for them to stay attached between the .79” thick glass. MP40’s are rated only for .75” thick.

Yep. I haven’t had an issue with any of them.
