So I know this is a very broad subject but I’ve always enjoyed the looks of stags. With that I’m looking at making a wish list with some of the common names of those Acropora we label as stags:

Bali Green Slimer Stag
ORA Stuber Stag
Blue Stag (not sure of sales name)
Purple Stag (not sure of sales name)

I know I’m missing a lot but what am I missing for common ones in the hobby?

Blue matrix, Surf and Turf, are 2 old ones.
Their are many called stags but the few in the hobby you see today have a very branching look to them which are the ones I prefer.
Some of the wild ones can look nice as I was lucky enough to get one but its a kind of army green.

Some of the stags on reefs get to large for most home systems.

Check my 120 build as I had 7 different types before I took it down. Here is a pic of 3 that came from my 120 and are now in the frag system.
Green slimer
Blue slimer
OD slimer.

Presumably we're ignoring the 400 or so species that exist and focusing on only hobby favorites. Cool thread idea!
Copps Cali Cali stag
Oregon Tort
I'm a relative newbie....
@jda @90's reefer
Correct, mainly those common in the hobby. I know there’s quite a few species.

@90's reefer awesome tank and stags. That surf and turf color is awesome. I’ll have to check your build.

I’m thinking stag structure/look. I need a pic of that hoeksemai too :)

I’ve heard there’s a pink stag around but not sure if it has a trade name?

A red one exits but I have not seen it in a colony only frags. I need to get one and grow it to colony size.
Here are 4 that are in my new 80g growout system. They are under xr15 blue but its only day one.
They came from my 120.
Blue slimer
Purple slimer
Green slimer
Army slimer.
My purple slimer turned blue under my 16hds in my frag system.
This system is only a week old and I am not yet sold on the xr blue. I may try a pro.

Very nice. I’ll take one of each lol

I have halides on my 65 and smat farm led on my wife’s 32. I’m hesitant to switch my halides to led since my coral are doing well

Should not be an issue. I ran halides for 30 years and just went full led.
My frag system was lit by a 250 watt 14k and is now under 3-16hds. The color the 16's brought out is amazing, imo.

I'll add one to the list although it looks better under "white" lighting.

Purple Slimer - Acropora Yongei, extremely similar to the green slimer and actually I think some show a hint of green in their colour under blue lighting but for the most part they're purple with blue tips. Here's a photo of mine from yesterday, the blue tips arent really blue anymore, I think they're mostly blue when it's showing growth that hasn't completely coloured as it was only blue on the very tips.

I'll try find a slightly older photo with the blue tips.
here's one from a few days after getting it and settling into the tank.
