This small 1cm mass has been growing very slowly for a few months at this point. It looks the same color as my string of pearls macroalgae under whites, but glows a bit under actinic lights. It’s kind of blobby, but no visible pores or anything (there is some detritus on it at the moment). Any ideas?

Might be a sponge, come in as a spore from something and slowly grow on a corner of a rock. Its very colorful, so if it is a sponge that would be amazing.

just dont let an angel see it lol

A sponge would be cool! Can anyone confirm? @ISpeakForTheSeas ?
Is the picture taken in the water, or out of it? I ask because the reflections of the light on the blob make it look too gelatinous for most sponges. So, if it's in the water, my first thought would be a red algae.
