Hey guys,

Looking to start culturing my own phyto to avoid constant trips to LFS to buy it.

1. How much can be appropriately dosed per day per gallon of tank water? I've currently just been pouring some in, maybe 20 to 30ml a day.

2. If I only use 30ml a day, can it be successfully cultured on a much smaller scale than people using 2L bottles or 2L gladd jars? Seems like there would be incredible amount of leftover go unused.

3. Equipment that I need? A container of an amount necessary to fulfill the above? Airline tubing and tetra whisper air pump or otherwise, phyto starter culture and F/2 algal fertilizer to get it going.

Seems very straightforward. Anything missing? Would try to let the culture grow in window and pour out about 80% a week and refill with 1.018 saltwater. Add more F2 and let it go again?

You need to be aware of daylight hours this time of year.
12 hours of daylight may not be enough.

Also, if you dont pause your culture every now and then, you WILL end up with more than you need even on a smaller scale.

And be aware you will always need atleast half to start a new batch :)
