I figured I would start my build thread today since things are starting to move forward.

Tank - Waterbox Marine 70.3
Lighting - 2x Kessil a360x with wifi dongle
Flow - 2x AI Nero 5’s
Return - Vectra S1
Skimmer - Nyos Quantum 120
Salt - Tropic Marine Pro Reef Salt
Doser - Planning on the new Ecotech Versa

This is my largest system comming off of nano reef tanks.

It is currently lit by a 6 bulb ATI fixture but after I saw the Kessils in person I ordered a couple. My plan for stocking is a mixed reef. Ill be starting with mostly lps. But I have great hopes this time on being able to keep a few acros.

Ill also mention I have never followed one set method of reefing. This time ill be using the Balling method using the premade mix from Aquaforest.

Getting a torch and hammer tomorrow from another reefer. And next week ill be getting my Kessils in the mail, super excited!

Thanks for taking a look!

Love! I also have a Marine 70.3– the display has such generous dimensions. I can’t wait to see progress on your new setup.

It truly is beautiful. Ill have to check your build thread if you have one! Right now the project is making it so I have 4” socks in the sump. Right now I just have one clipped on a baffle. Much better than having the socks in the back!

Small update... Originally I was going to go barebottom for ease of maintenance. But I fell in love with the look of fine sand and decided to give it a try. I chose the whitest sand I could find, CaribSea Bahamas Oolite.

I picked up a yellow coris wrasse and he is doing great, was eating the first hour home. Love how he sleeps in the sand.

Next step is to get some biodiversity going. I started with dry rock so ill add some KP Aquatics to seed. So that will be a next paycheck thing ha.

My goal is to house a mandarin. So I need to get started on my refugium and such. However with only two fish, this tank is running on low on nitrates. I stopped running my skimmer and will plan out the rest of my fish stocking.

Got my first zoa frag for this tank. Ya gotta have rastas in a zoa garden!

Mandarins are tough. You’ll probably have to go to algae barn and get a few jars of pods to seed the tank and dose phyto. And you might want to wait 6+ months on the mandarin because they get hungry and eat ALOT of pods.

Been a bit since I have updated this thread. I have been working on adding biodiversity to the tank since it was pretty sterile. I added 10lbs of KPaquatic live rock, chaeto, and a small reefcleaners package including a couple conches.

The live rock is so beautiful, I plan to order more in the spring and replace the dry rock. I have some serious aqua scaping to do.

I'm considering getting the 70.3. I know the total width is 18", but some of that is taken up by the overflow. What is the width of the display portion of the tank?

Tank and sand update? How’s it going?

Eek I haven’t been updating here much.

Tank is well. Dealing with some hair algae after my refugium light decided to burn and die. My new Tunze refugium light is poop imo, not strong enough.

Besides the hair algae, all my acros and corals look great! Picked up a Walt Disney, green slimmer, and a PC Rainbow. I think im packed on sps if I consider when they grow in.

Just got a shipment today from TSA of zoas to start my zoa garden. I am waiting on some more clean up crew to help with algae. Having a hard time picking out a new refugium light. Scared to drop money on a kessil.

Loving the zoas! Fruit loops and gobstopper colonies are pretty nice ;)

Look, who we have over here . Seems like less thread action here than NR so far. I’m seeing kinda the same thing, albeit I’ve only had a few posts
