Hi all,

there’s a tank I’m looking at buying but it has a chip in it. Is it worth going for? Does this look like it would have any structural affect?

No, doesn't look structural. Got to wonder how it happened to make sure there's been no damage to the silicone seal, but from I what I see in the pic...if it's a good deal and it doesn't bother you that it's not perfect (and it would me to no end), I'd say it's ok assuming you leak test it...any if you can, leak test it for a couple days.

I'm with Quietman. Doesn't look structural. Something must have hit it from the top down, if it had been from the side I would think there would be cracks...

While the other posts are correct that it doesn't look structural, any chip can create cracks. Think of the small chipped windshield that spiders. What size is the tank?

Those windshield crack like that because the glass is laminated for safety. Fish tanks are mainly made of plate glass with the exception of some tempered bottoms

Any glass that has cracks can get worse when put under pressure.
