Looking for help and ideas for starting a new reef club

Hi fellow reefers: I have been contemplating about starting up a new reef club. I am looking for any tips or things I should know before starting this endeavor. If you don't want to comment in an open forum, please feel free to PM me. TIA

I'm located in middle of Florida on the East coast

* All meetings at local sit-down restaurants. For being President all your food and beer is free as members pick up the check.

* You also get first dibs on any frag swaps.

* You also have 100% veto power.

* Consider possibly wearing a silk robe to meetings over your street clothes

It seems like Florida probably already has several reef clubs. I swear it seems like Florida is the Mecca of this hobby.

as founder it’s always best to give yourself the most power and control, at first anyway, otherwise it becomes someone else’s vision.
…and always remember; the ultimate proof of power is how much abuse of it you can get away with

First what is the purpose of starting the club?

We had a club here in Vermont for a bit. We were focused on participation in the hobby, frag swaps...although many seemed to eventually become tank teardown sell offs. We also had activities planned like building a kalk reactor or refugium. We did the basic meet and greet at various houses to check out members tanks. We did have one reef store that hosted a few meetings and provided food.
