Looking for ideas for coral protection

I have noticed a few of my fish have taken notice to my ACAN colonies all of a sudden and the acans do not look so happy. Any ideas how I can protect them from being devoured. I was thinking about an eggcrate box to keep fish away but allows them to get food, light and flow. Any other ideas as the eggcrate does not really look to good but it may have to do for now. Tank is a 120 mixed reef

What fish? If they are well fed they shouldn't bother corals unless you introduced non reef safe fish.

Also depends on what u prefer. Fish or coral. Although not a guarantee some fish just turn.

They are my flame angel 2 barred rabbit fish and Foxface. They are fed 4 times a day via plank which is the reefjerky and once a day they get a strip of seaweed soaked in selcon. They were model citizens but not sure what happened. I knew I was taking a chance with flame angel but the 2 bar and Foxface. Thought they were herbivores.

If u get a chance, take a look at tank from afar and see who may b exhibiting the bad behavior. Angels have been. Know. Not saying it’s the culprit but ya Nvr know

In my experience, feeding more will not eliminate picking. A fish that wants to pick will pick.

Yup, you cannot nor will not keep a fish that eats coral from doing so. It’s in their dna and natural eating habits. Best decide what you want, lps or fish.

I already watched and found my culprits. Flame angel Foxface and 2 bar rabbit fish are nipping. Latter of the 2 have me intrigued since they are herbivores

Rabbitfish are know lps and softie munchers, no surprise

I’m gonna keep fish and corals will protect corals for now and get my other tanks numbers in order and possibly place acans in there. I love both
