Hello all,

I have a Nuvo 40 currently cycling and I want some input on powerhead placement for my current aquascape. Intending to keep only softies and LPS for now as this is my first reef tank. I currently have a Jebao OW-25 on the left rear and an OW-10 on the right rear wall.

I'd also like some input on how to set up my rear chambers. I've seen many different approaches to this and the choices seem a bit overwhelming. My current setup is as follows, from left to right:

Chamber 1: Tunze 9001 skimmer
Chamber 2: Inkbird temperature probe #1
Chamber 3: stock return pump, Eheim heater, Hydor ATO sensor
Chamber 4: Inkbird temperature probe #2
Chamber 5: Homemade eggcrate media basket (three levels, currently empty)

In addition to the above I also have a homemade eggcrate refugium basket sized to chambers 2 and 4.

Any advice is welcome.

The scape is very nice, looks great.

I have this tank as well and I feel that upgrading the return pump is essential. I went with the Sicce 3.0, it's a tight fit but worth it. GPH with the Sicce is 714.

In one overflow I have Aquashield 14 watt UV. The other overflow has the Tunze 9001. I do not use socks.

Thanks for the comments on my scape. Are you running anything in 2 & 4?

Do you find the UV sterilizer does anything at this scale?

I upgraded the return pump as well, mainly because the stock one just kind of failed after a while... (forgot exactly how long it lasted). It WILL be a tight fit, so be patient LOL

Besides the power head and return pump, maybe also look into upgrading the stock return nozzle. I recently upgraded to the random flow generator from Vivid, seems like a popular choice.
