Hello everyone. My name is Ethan but I’m sure most of you know me as Petcrazyson....which I am lol. This will be my restart/continuum of my older build thread for my Red Sea Reefer. Since you clicked on this post I think it’s needless to say what this build will be about lol. This thread started different than the thread name (which is why there is 13 and a bit pages about not keeping a bunch of wrasse), as this wasn’t my original goal, but ideas change and this the new one.

Here’s what the tank looked like at the beginning.
1664390951102.png

(Added MOAR sand of course. If anyone cares to share a good idea to add sand without too much cloudiness feel free to do so).

Clarifying what I mean, this is me months from this post…HELLO! For all of you following you will have seen by now that this original starter post has been tweaked and the name for the thread changed. If you guys want to skip to the part where I’m changing what’s going in this thread to accommodate the new plan you can skip to page 14. But why do that when you can go through all of the thread and see how it has changed from this original post! Sneak peek into a specific Wrasse going in the tank:

#eyecandy lol

Thank you to everyone again. You can see future me in the newest page. See ya there and enjoy the build!

Trick for adding sand without the haze. Get yourself an empty milk jug and cut the top half off retaining the handle and spout.

Using 2.5 or 3" PVC, That is a few inches deeper than your tank, duct tape the milk jug funnel to one end.

Put the PVC into the tank and to the bottom. Scoop sand into the jig to be deposited at the bottom of the tank. There should be Very little cloudiness this way.

I like that idea. I’ll try it out :)

Hello everyone. Following is the equipment/supplies I plan on running/using for the tank. Some I already have, and some I am anxious to get:

~ Reef Octopus Classic 152-S (internal) Ranked: 200g/758L
~ ReefMat Roller Mat 500
~ Syncra SDC 3.0 (yea Ik I should have gone for the 6.0) with accessories. Comes with a temperature controller
~ XP Aqua Duetto ATO
~ Ecotech Marine Battery Backup
~ Ecotech Marine Radion XR15 Gen 6 LED x2 (idk to go with pro or blue)
~ EcoTech Marine Radion XR15 RMS x2
~ Kessil A360X LED
~ AI Prime 16HD REEF LED
~ Nyos Torq dock G1
~ Nyos Torq G2 1.0
~ Ecotech Marine VorTech MP40
~ Sicce XSTREAM 2120gph x 2
~ Bioballs
~ Brightwell Aquatics Purit
~ UV Sterilizer (idk which one yet)
~ RODI Unit with accessories
~ Titanium Heaters 300W x 2
~ Redsea Red Sea Salt (Blue bucket) salt mix

Long list. I also am getting a whole bunch of dosing supplements, additives, fish medication, testing kits, and a lot of miscellaneous products for the tank. I also have a power head that is just like an MP40 in performance and has the same water current variations. In my eyes its just as good as an MP40. I also have another power head I don’t know the name of atm. I also have a light that I use for my Refugium but idk the name of it as well. Like I said idk a good UV sterilizer so if you guys know one or use that is highly recommended please let me know. Also idk if I should go BLUE or PRO with the Gen 6 so please let me know which one you would choose. Let me know any tips and suggestions with the equipment I have down or that you think I should get. I’ll be back with another update tomorrow.

Hello everyone, quick update. So remember when I said I wouldn‘t change my rock scape again? Yea I changed it again. I got another idea and I decided to go ahead with it. Hopefully this WILL be the LAST time I ”fix“ the scape…for this tank of course. I do like this one better, but idk for how long I’ll like it though. Atm there are a few more rocks I added, but it doesn’t change the scape much…and I haven’t taken a good enough picture yet…so yea here it is. Ik ima regret saying this, and I’ll probably change the scape a little again, but any suggestions to the scape if it was your tank? TIA!

I look forward to seeing both the naokoae and the magnificent fox!
Here’s a few of my fish from my 4’. I believe there’s 13 fish in mine but I may be missing one.

Thank you! The Magnificent and the Naoko are, if my planning goes correctly, will be the first new fish going into the tank. I do want to add the two at the same time cause, why not lol, but if I can’t, it‘ll probably be the Jawfish and the hawkfish.

Do you ever see your Naoko dive bomb other wrasses? I don’t think the other wrasses like it but I’m sure he displays his best colors when he does, raising his dorsal and all.

His dorsal and pelvic fins all get shown when he displays. I’ve never seen him do it with the other wrasses however he does like to use that height for dive bombing random objects in the tank. Definitely displays some of the nicest colours when he does divebomb.
My first one would also show that dive bombing behaviour when he displayed. He often circled round the top of the tank then dive bombed the fish. Usually my main suspects of being dive bombed were the Foxface and the iridis.

Little update. The water has been clearing up a bit as my last bacteria bloom seems to be in the process of ending. I‘ll hopefully be getting the skimmer by the end of the week. Everyone seems to be looking good. I did loose one of my nassarius snails, but everyone else in my CUC seem ok.

My clowns aren’t too happy with me atm. They were hosting a rock that was in the very back of the tank. But with new scape I needed to move it, so now my female clown is out hunting for new real estate. She seems to be looking around more often on the left side of the tank, which I’m happy with because I’m planning on having an anemone or a Alveopora garden on that side.

Here’s a pic of the clowns before lights go on. I was hoping to get a fts but I have terrible glare. The water is clearing up nicely, almost completely clear! And yea I’ve still got algae problems :face-with-rolling-eyes::confused:
