Asking here instead of a bigger thread so I don't look like an idiot haha. I haven't done a WC on the new tank with the sump. SO, just making sure I do this correctly. Before on the cannister filter I just drained from the DT and then added back in.

I should shut off return pump, allow all excess to drain to sump, then drain desired amount of water out of DT. Then add in the same amount of water back into the DT and turn the return pump back on? Think I'm just going to try and do about 15-20 gallons if I can tonight.

@billyocean @pandaparties @tbrown3589 @Kasrift

Edit: that's what I'm doin. Shut off the return and draining from the tank currently. Should be good :)

That's what I do! I mark my sump with a marker before I drain so I fill up to the same line

Similar. I shut off the sump (return pump, ATO, and skimmer) and drain from the sump. Then I refill straight into the filter socks in case there's any solids in the mixing bucket. If I am siphoning algae or something I leave the return pump running and siphon from the DT into the filter socks as well. I rarely try to do any "cleaning" during the WC into the waste bucket, just into the filter socks and then rinse that out afterwards .

Well, that wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Pretty easy actually hah. Thanks for the input. I just shut the return and skimmer off. Let it all drain into the sump, then pumped out 15 gallons from the DT. Then I added 15 gallons back in the DT of new saltwater. Checked all the parameters again also about 2 hours after I had refilled the tank. Things are back to where I like them. Also, some pictures of what's left and how everything is doing. You can see the tissue missing from the barnacle on the one tiger, but other than that it seems to be doing ok for now.

I am hopeful on the orange you jealous. The polyps on the 'back' side, side that wasn't in the light, had all completely retracted where they just looked like bore holes. They've started to extend back again some now. So, keeping my fingers crossed everything looks a lot better tomorrow before the new delivery!!

Not the best FTS, because of the glare, I'll get a better one soon. Tanks still nice and clean. Cleaned the glass for the first time in a week just because I was going to take the FTS... Didn't really need to clean it but had a little film algae in some places.

Got our new corals in today from @SBB Corals ! Hopefully the issue with SPS we've had, has ran its course and is gone. Time will tell. Everything is currently happy it looks like, and the large tiger tenuis I thought we were going to lose, seems to be coming back strong! Fingers crossed. Anyway, here's a new video!

Went and borrowed a PAR meter today, an Apogee MQ-200. I'll post a PAR map up later once I get all the readings done. While there, picked up a new frag also. Couldn't not, when they were letting me borrow the meter for free!! I believe he said they're ORA corals he had in. I'm not sure what this one is, but it's very bright! They also have I think an ORA Chips acro, which looks really nice. I may have to get a frag of it!

Here's a quick video of our torches from this afternoon and some quick pictures of a few of the others!

Here's our updated light schedule and PAR map with the Apogee MQ200. I increased the intensity only on the G5's from 65% to 85% and increased the white light some as well. Numbers are all with water flow on, and an average of what I was seeing with the flow on.

Just thought I'd get some pictures this morning of our SPS. Everything is nice and happy. Lights have been on about 15 minutes in these pictures.

Picked up some more rock today, wanted to add more space to mount corals in some of the higher par areas that were unused. I think adding the extra rock arches layered and the 'branching tree' further back helps give more depth to the tank; making it seem larger. Definitely more areas for the fish to hang out in. There's been a little aggression before I added with one of the wrasses getting picked on. So hopefully this helps out :)

Here's a before and after :) I'll get a video a little later before the lights go out tonight, or tomorrow night. Sending off our ICP test tomorrow also :)

Water parameters this evening. Cal was a little lower than expected, not to bad though. Wanted to check everything before sending off the ICP also. Took the samples, then did my testing. So we'll see how close everything comes back to :) I like they also test my RODI water!

Been opening up our windows in the evenings since it's been cool enough. It's definitely helped raise our overall PH. Before we'd get lucky to get to 8.1 after the transfer. And as low as 7.85, now we're not dropping below 8.05 and have hit 8.24 today.

Just got home from work, and everything is still looking happy. I rearranged the one branching rock to show it's character better lol. Once I get cleaned up and everything, I'll get another picture. Definitely looks better than it did last night when it was backwards.

Just posting a quick update. It's been a long week this week. Unfortunately, my soon to be mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly Monday evening. This has led to me neglecting our reef tank essentially. I checked the Alk last night and it was 8.1. I added in some mg, cal, and alk. Then finally got around to doing a WC. Just 10 gallons, but better than nothing. We've lost most of our SPS due to me not staying 100% on top of things. My fiancé's parents live next door to us, so that has made this especially hard.

Our ATI ICP test I'm assuming is lost in the USPS someplace. The tracking number never updated/scanned in. ATI hasn't updated/sent any emails. It was shipped last Friday. Then our AC went out yesterday, so that was even better. Been pretty down, my MIL used to love to come over and just stare at the tank. She just turned 71 in February. Anyway, I thought making myself do a WC today, and getting on here to post may help get me back into a routine and going again.

Still have some SPS that are hanging on. The Monkey Bomb, Rasberry Runt, Pyshco Kiwi, maybe the Bumble Bee, I think the Tiger may make it. I just have to get back to staying on top of everything. Going to try and do another WC Tuesday.

Hug your loved ones, you never know how long you have. Sorry for the not-so-great update.

Well, some good news, our ICP test was finally received by ATI. Hopefully have our results by Wednesday!

Other than that, same as yesterday. Still coping and trying to be happy, we're getting there!

Really sorry to hear about your loss. I know this forum is for reef talk, but family is the most important thing and we’re all just people that share a hobby. Being there for your family takes priority over keeping up with your reef every time. I’m sure you’ll get it back into shape soon. All you can do is move on and when you’re able to and have the time, do your best to get your reef conditions back to where they were. Again, very sorry to hear about your loss.

Couldn't agree more. Very sorry to hear about the loss in the family. Corals are replaceable, so hopefully you can focus on family. Offer still stands from your SVE event, more than happy to send you a care package of SBB acros if/when you want, I have some redundancies due to buying "mystery" acros and some I could frag.

Thanks for the kind words!

I think it'll be a lot better off after another WC tomorrow also. We'll see how it goes, hopefully things turn around and get all happy again haha.

@Kasrift I may take you up on that offer once I get it all back under control. Except we can trade some! I could get a few acros, and I could frag some of our torches/hammers if you were interested. The princess peach torch is splitting it's two heads currently, to four!

I’ve got one of those princess peach torches and I think it looks awesome contrasting near one of the brighter green ones.
