These are poriferan sponges which can grow crazy and become evasive
Carefully pull from the roots. If they start to tear, do it outside of the tank in a bucket of tank water as they can release toxins similar to terpenes from leathers

welcome to the show.
the dusters aren't harmful, just unsightly (my opinion) in large numbers.
they will keep multiplying.
copperband butterfly devours them, and aiptasia, but your tank isn't big enough for one.
Thank you. I will look into some waysa to thin them out. I don't want to getridof all of them. I'm sure they are good at getting all the small bits.

Hi Ken and Welcome! Glad you joined. Vetguy knows SO MUCH about SO MUCH and I'm glad he helped you with identification. Going forward for future ID needs, there is a Forum section just for IDing things that will help when the next thing shows up.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
