Now, I mostly love my Hanna Alk Checker, HI 772.

Use it 4/5 times per week.

Sure, I have my doubts from time to time but no more than I would have with any other titration.

This morning, while changing the AAA battery, I accidentally dropped it from table height.

Outwardly, there was no damage. Everything in one piece. Nothing cracked.

To my surprise, however, when I tried to turn it back on. NOTHING.

So, the moral of the story is...

Don't drop your Alk Checker!

Or if you're a klutz in the morning, like me, wrap your checker in foam like a beer can cooler.

Maybe that could be a new product line and Hanna accessory?

Foam cases for early morning klutzy testers.

$5 to save $50?

Reasonable.

Did you open it up and see what may have broken? It could be something as simple as a socket or connection that came loose.

Outside of the battery compartment, doesn't look that easy to open up.

I dropped mine and it stopped working, somehow in the course of messing with it I found that if I didn't tighten the screw down all the way it worked fine unless I forget and press on the bottom of the checker, then it turns off. I'm not sure why, but I've used it for at least 3 months since I dropped it. Just a shot in the dark though.

Ha, I will give it a try!

They should print a warning on the checker, Caution, Do Not Drop
