I've used it to mix 120g of new water and can say the bucket levels were correct for my usage.

Can't say much about long-term useage

I can't afford Red Sea Blue buckets here locally as they are almost 1*5 the cost of IO Regular buckets.
But, I'll say that this could be what you are looking for to solve your Alk issue.
And it may be a stable enough salt for your other needs too.

I wish I could use it regularly because of what it states on the buckets;

Aquarium TypeSalinityAlkalinity (dKH)Ca (mg/l)Mg (mg/l)K (mg/l)Dose
SPS Dominant35 ppt7.5-8.5415 – 4451240 – 1320375 – 40538.2 g/l
Ultra Low nutrient SPS33 ppt7-8395 – 4251180 – 1260355 – 38536.0 g/l
Marine Fish30 ppt6.5-7.5355-3851060 – 1140320-35032.8 g/l

Thanks, I will Red Sea check out the cost here in Canada.

I have now tried a test with a 5gal pail, mixing new Instant Ocean salt with 5gal of RO. Tested the salinity at 1.026, temp 75 and Alkalinity at 12.0. Goal is to drop alkalinity from 12.0 to 8.3. Then added 2.2ml of the same jug of 31.45% Muriatic acid used before mixed throughly. Result was disappointingly still at 12.0. So with a brand new jug of the same brand of acid, tried again, adding 2.2ml of aciid to the 5gal pail. Result again was 12.0.

Could it be a bad brand of acid(“Kencro Chemicals Oakville, Ontario”)? Hard to believe and doesn’t make sense. I wonder if something else is causing this?

I guess I will go out and try to find a different brand of acid. Here in Toronto(Ontario Canada), finding this acid is difficult. Even Home Depot & Lowe’s stopped selling this acid a few years ago. Perhaps due to the danger handling it.
