It is really interesting, but the babies very rarely have the exact same colors as either one of the parents. And even more interesting (to me) is that all of my “good breeders” are ultras/splatters/etc., but even if the parents are all desirable colors and patterns, a litter of 40 babies might have like 4 or 5 with wild colors. The rest are usually much more “common” colored flowers!

How often do you get a baby? What’s the trick to get rfa babies?

I usually have one or two good spawns a year. One in the fall and one in the spring (right about now). The trick (in my opinion) is to have a lot of them, feed them meaty foods once or twice a week, and just be patient.

And if you really want to nerd out, watch for full moons. When there is a day in the fall or spring with a full moon, I’ll do a water change with water that drops the tank temp by 1.5-2 degrees and that seems to get them going.
