You will love it. Once it has broken in and your tank conditioned to it this is what you can expect

Refugium or ATS, I can’t decide! I do want copepods to feed fish but wouldn’t everyone want that too? What makes a ATS so much better?

ATS grows hair algae which is more efficient at taking up nutrients. I kind of go with the theory that different algaes take up different nutrients so I do the ATS with a cheato and gracilara fuge.

Really excited getting some random blue plating sponge growing!
Fighting to get alk back up to 8, at around 7.6 at the moment.

Been fighting a little with low nitrate and phosphate. I am feeding twice a day, sometimes 3 with 2 coral feedings a week. I struggle with undetectable nitrate and phosphate. I am tweaking my scrubber and fuge time slowly to not give anything a shock.

My fish are super happy, my neighbor went on a month long fishing binge and I now have about 4 lbs of frozen mahi roe!

Just got back from 8 days in the keys. Will do some FTS and pics tomorrow. With the house empty, ph was 0.2-0.3 higher all day. I got back today and alk had fallen 1.1 over the course of the week, phosphates and nitrates still good and in range, 0.07 and 3 respectively.
Here are a couple of keys shots:

Any pics of your plating sponge? I just had someone give me one to "rescue" it. It has puffed up nicely and the color looks very dark purple now.

Yeah we caught a dozen dolphin, big schooly sized 8 lbs or so. I predominantly fish for yellowtail or dolphin, with some muttons or grouper on a deep line when I have the school up.
I love to dive too, almost regular lobster season.
