I have been out of reefing for ten years and now me and my girlfriend are both going to be building setups. So far the build is a 60g marine land corner overflow cube with stand.

Here is the beginning of the rock work. The heater is up top until I had enough water to fill the sump. I’m not crazy about the marine land stand . I don’t like the hollow open top. I never felt great about having it on there. So before I get ahead of myself I decided to build a new stand.

Here is the stand I built . I wanted the sleek Red Sea look . I used a rubberized coating on the inside. Pure silicone .

Here is the sump with updated plumbing. I need to add a skimmer and somehow a refugium area . So I’ll need a small foot print skimmer.

even with the adjustable feet, I had to add a shim on the back to make up the difference of the floor level. my house is over 100 years old. I tried to level it as best I could as of now it's slightly of level from right to left like 1/8 of an inch.

Looking forward to seeing this build develop! Keep the thread updated!

Be careful with the black sand and magnetic algae scrapers the black sand particles is known to be slightly magnetic at times and the magnetic scrapers could catch some sand pieces and scratch the glass just a heads up!

Here is my current rock scape but I’ve had a cyno outbreak so now I’m treating that and might move some things around for more flow. I just bought a ghl controller and a sc-301 skimmer . I know everyone was suggesting the curve five and I’m sure it is great but this one was $100 cheaper and with Amazon return policy if it’s broken I’ll return it . But so far it seems ok and the footprint is smaller .

This is looking great. You are pretty much my twin. I too have been out of reef keeping for ten years. I recently purchased a 45 gallon cubish tank (18” vs 24” tall) and the same marineland stand from a local reefer who let me have it for cheap $25. I’m in the process of refurbishing the stand right now.

your new stand turned out great!
