Been working in a LFS for a few months, they have two of these guys, this one has been very outgoing ( for a mantis) and recognizes for me for food, so after a few weeks i took it home. It's in a 40 gallon cube with macro, 2 inches of live sand, and live rock. Also hermits. Definitely a smasher, lives in a rock, doesn't really burrow. Sorry for the pictures but it's hard to get them.

Very cool! I’m still loving my mantis. It has molted 3 times since I’ve had it. Each time it isn’t interested in eating for several days prior and mostly stays in his PVC cave. It’s a very simple tank to maintain with the 40lbs of rubble on top of the reverse flow under gravel filter. I can’t help with an ID on yours but maybe this site will help you narrow it down. Click through and see which one looks like yours.

So I got this video of him, dont mind the messy sump, dealing with ridiculous dino outbreak right now. He has turned pretty bright green, eats out of my hand, doesn't seem at ALL interested in that little damsel either. After about 30 seconds its just me trying to get the damsel to eat the silverside.

Hey just catching up with your video, I'm not so certain you have a chiragra. This does not look like a chiragra telson.

If anything it almost looks like H. Stoliura? In this picture you posted earlier are these blue spots easily visible on the mantis as iridescent blue patches?

Just looked at the video, it definitely has those bright blue spots. Good eye! And thanks for the ID , now at least I know what he is!

Not a G. Chiragra. Try to get a good pic of the meral spots (inside of hammers) and we can confirm. If you put something sparkling and changing like a lava lamp with glitter near the glass by the burrow, it should flare up at it and expose the spots for a few seconds.
Also try to find out where it was collected. That can help a lot sometimes
