Welcome to the Reef2Reef POTM Contest - Photo of the Month

Sponsored by Avast Marine!

This month's subject - Fish feeding shot

Deadline to Enter: 31st Mar, 2021 at 11:59 pm (EST)

Looking forward to great shots of feeding frenzy! Remember, the photo has to have been taken by you, and the subject has to be in your aquarium.
No watermarks or captions are allowed in the pictures and pictures with watermarks will be disqualified.
A bit of info around your fish list, types of food you feed and any special feeds for specific fish or maybe vitamin additions....

This is a photo contest after all and we're looking for the best photograph. Yes, you can use a post-editing product to better your pictures. In fact, we encourage it.
Few tips:
- Maybe have a helper feed the fish while you take the pictures.
-Try to take multiple pictures and make sure to catch any fish formations around the food at moment it hits the water or possibly fish lining up to feed or pulling at same piece of food....
- Get creative with shutter speeds with faster shutterspeeds to freeze the fast motion that is typical at feeding time or maybe slower shutter speeds to create some blurr that shows more the speed of the fish.

As always refer to the multiple photography articles or post any questions you might have on the photography forum for better support. Maybe also post a few pictures for suggestions and critique to improve your shots wile preparing for this months contest as well.

My desjardini is pretty brave
20210317_145634.jpg

Tankmates are a dragon moray eel, desjardini sailfin tang, long nose butterfly and a lamarck angel

I feed tons of different food. The moray gets silversides, salmon, scallop, jumbo shrimp, octopus and squid.

The other fish will eat his scraps along with mysid shrimp, sea veggies, blood worms, plankton and small krill.

This is not for the competition since someone already did berries which is a cool photo! But, I liked their photo so much I wanted to try one, so here is just for fun -- just a little blurry with that telephoto lens..... next time I'm using the tripod!

Eclipse Time. Sailfin Tang hand fed Nori

photo was clipped from video. She is about 8” and yes missing Dorsal fin and has scars from HLLE. She was rescuers from LFS by previous owner about 6 years ago and then gifted to us when he had to break down his system due to a divorce. The video was taken the day after I brought her home to ensure him that she was doing fine in our tank. We have no other tangs and she is our queen.

Eclipse Time. Sailfin Tang hand fed Nori. Photo was cropped from a video. She is a about 8”, missing her dorsal fin and has scars on her head from HLLE. Previous owner rescued her from LFS 6 years ago and nursed her back to health then gifted her to us when he had to break down system due to divorce. She is our only tang and the queen of the tank. She protects the boxfish that is about 1 1/2” and is buddies with the Japanese Swallowtail Angel. She honestly knows no enemies.
