Petco got an ora Marshal yellow fuzzy acro in today i csn get it for 35$ and its a neat color.. yellow... i have 3 green slimers( it broke lol) and some other green unknown acropora.. so i dont really want anymore green acroporas.. but ive never seen a yellow acropora.

I know acros will change colors based on light intensity.. but does anyone have this coral ?

If so whats your experience on its color.growth and hardiness for an acropora

These have not been too common since the use of pure daylight left the hobby, but ORA has (and does) still sell a variety. There were other varieties that were more yellow than the ORA one. Most of the popular yellow acros are now green/brown acropora with yellow tips with the heavy use of blue light forsaking heavy amounts of the rest of the spectrum - this is a spectrum thing, not just intensity. If it stays a true yellow on more than just the ttips (not yellow-green) for more than a year, then it could be really special, but you might need lots of 6500k light for this. The popular acros that actually stay yellow (pink floyd or westside rainbow tort, for example) are highly sought after.

Well i got it anyway i figured it would probly turn green.. but well see.

And yea i noticed it was brown with yellow tips like you said. I dont use heavy blue though. I have two blue plus and two coral plus t5s. So my tank has a pinkish.blue color vs just mainly blue.

Here it is . Its the one behind the little nub

Weird, it kinda looks like A. aculeus but growth looks different, maybe chesterfieldensis?

What is the consensus on this corals species?

Yea thats why i got it.. not for the (stellar) color because its kinda plain . Although it is a tad yellow deff not green.. but im sure itll change.. I liked it because of its growth pattern..

This coral is pretty green imo, it has yellow tips. The right tank can probably make it look pretty yellow though.

I mean that depends on your deffinition of green. See the green slimer behind it..thats a true green. Green youd use to mix paints. This coral isnt fully green. Or yellow..it isnt a lime color either.. Its more like this in person.. my camera doesnt get the colors exactly.

I have some 6500k lights. Ill take a blue plus out and put a 6500k in and see what it does
