Well, small update:
I helped a buddy break down his 80g frag tank and it was loaded with green star polyps and shroom. Needless to say my 40g breeder is jammed packed with it all and I had to give away about 4 huge pieces of flat live rock because it wouldn’t fit in my tank. Lol the guy gave me a killer deal on this water change cart so that should make doing water changes a lot easier for me and maybe I’ll stick with them every week. Lol

Going to be switching out my rlss r8i skimmer for a bubble magus curve 7 this week. The r8i I think is just way to big and doesn’t really skim to much. Hopefully the BM 7 will do a better job at skimming the tank.

Also redid or rearranged the garage and I moved my rodi unit towards the back side door. I’ve got it connected to where I close a value and open the other and it’ll fill my 32g brute can and do the opposite it’ll fill my mobile water change tank. Can’t wait to finally be able to use that. Also ran the waste line around the house to the backyard to the pool so every time I make water it’ll add a lil to the pool so hopefully we won’t have to fill it up this year.

Few photos of the 40g breeder.

Well, I just ordered a few things off amazon to hopefully get the tank back in gear. Talking to a buddy and looking it up after he’s been dozing seachem Reef trace elements and reef plus and dosing his tank with good results so figured I would try it out along with grabbing some esv b-ionic alk&ca to start dosing some. Going to try and work out the mobile water change today and make my first batch of saltwater with it.

Got everything from amazon and did some testing yesterday and cal was on the low side I got 380. Definitely going to bump that up to about 420 and maybe alk up to 9. On to the bad news is my tank is covered in bubble algae now. I’m thinking the yellow eye has been trying to eat them and may have popped some causing an outbreak. Lfs should have some female emerald crabs which should take of the problem hopefully.

Here’s a few photos of the tank today. All the lights are on with an iPhone 6s+. Also I retested today and the parameters are in the photo. So I added 12oz of ocean blend cal and 6oz ocean blend alk. I’ll retest tomorrow and see where we’re at.
I’m going to start dosing seachem reef plus and reef trace. Says 1 capful for every 20g and I figure the tank is about 140g. I’m going to do one of those and wait 2 days and dose the other. Hopefully I’ll get some good results.

Well, going full force on the bubble algae. Lfs finally got some female emerald crabs so ended up clearing him out and got 10 for the tank. Hopefully they can clean up the tank of the algae. If not I’m going to give #vibrant reef cleaner
Tested the water and it seems nothing really changed from before. Plan on tested it after work today and seeing where it’s at.
Finally sold off all the GSP from my buddies tank and sold that huge shroom rock. That sucker as probably spit about 20 babies all over my frag tank. Along with a few patches of gsp. Still have a Tonga branch covered with gsp. Finally did some fragging and was able to put some into the frag tank.

Had some store credit so ended up buying 2 acans, blasto, and some fairy tails.

Maybe the bubble algae is picking up the slack from the GSP, LOL.

Well it’s sad to come and say this but I’m going to be breaking this down and downgrading to a 25g lagoon. Planning on making a nice reef tank. Zoas, acans, chalices, and try a few sps. I was able to found a killer deal on one about a hour away and went and grabbed it last week. I ended up trading the mp10 that came with it for some zoas. Pretty happy about that.

Dang bro, good luck on the lagoon! I am sure you will have another larger tank again down the road :)
Yea I’m sure I will. For some reason I’ve always done better with nano tanks. Just need to sell the rest of my coral and few fish so I can break it down. I’m excited about this lil tank. Hopefully we’ll be able to get a few OG sps pieces and have it grow.
Sad part is I was going to keep the small tang but found him like this yesterday. Guess that’s a sign not to keep him.

Ive got some many of these shrooms. Lol not sure I’m going to be adding these cause I’m sure they would take over the tank in a few months.
