So after several days of struggling with a Seneye, I finally got it up and running! I wanted to check out the PAR and spectrum on both lights- it was hard to do in such a small space, but I’ve got the results now! Both measurements for this comparison were taken 1/2in below the water surface, in the front middle, right above my frag rack. Both lights are approx. 18 inches above the tank, Luxbird is an inch or two higher.

First is the ABI Tuna Blue (12w):

I got a consistently, insanely high PAR reading of 700 (peaked to 710 in the picture ). It was about 650 resting on the frag rack. WAY higher than I expected or want. I don’t know how accurate their spectrum readings are, this shows more red than ABI advertises (black line).

Then the Luxbird Fullspectrum:
A96BFABC-4415-43A6-914D-7DD96E056D5F.jpeg

It averaged 360, which is definitely closer to what I want. Again, the spectrum looks similar to advertised, but with more green (black line).

I took readings from a few different locations and compared them, and the Luxbird definitely has more even distribution.

Still surprised how high the PAR on the ABI is o_O

I ran two of those 7 gallon AIOs (didn’t really know they had a 4 gallon). A very easy tank to run; easy to load with loose filter floss in the left chamber, by the way. Your tank looks great— a Coral Banded Shrimp and a Yellow Tail Damsel and you’ll be golden!

Wowwww I wonder if that’s why you were getting so much algae / higher temp. That’s crazy high PAR

Nice, that second one is so cute!! Does yours just have two chambers? The one on the left and a big one with a return pump on the right? If so, what did you do with the right space?

The 4 gallon is a newer model, it was released wholesale in nov/oct of 2018 I think? I got mine before the official release, as a show item from MACNA Vegas.

Probably! And my main problem algae spot was right beneath where I took that reading. That’s also where the single red LED shines, which come to think of it is probably why the seneye showed higher red spectrum light!

Had these new bottles of Red Sea AB laying around so I figured I might as well try them out! I’ll be starting off with just 5 drops of each daily.

Mine had a large area in middle I left empty, then one chamber to one side for the return pump, the other side is where I put filter floss. Before it got established I’d use carbon in a mesh bag; or ChemiPure. Really, it’s a great tank for a shot of Vibrant once a week to keep it humming along, clear.

Took some EXTREMELY beautiful pics of the blennies today. Clarice is being very petty about the barnacle that’s on her side, that she’s not using- but absolutely will not tolerate the thought of Harold using. Harold has been eyeing it, so Clarice sent a warning:

Harold didn’t know how to react (understandably):
