I moved my old post to this new post.

I recently received a og bounce in the mail,

It was detached from plug.

Had a ice pack in 60 deg weather.

It was also freshly cut.

I thought it was bleached when I first got. But it turns out that it's normal for a o.g bounce to have white bubbles when it's small like the one I got. After observing it for a few days it was doing good. I also turned down my white channel on the reef breeders photon v2. It looked like crap at times which had me a little concern. I'll post a pic below of when I first got it and and after a few days

So it bounced back.

I woke up this morning and half it was melted. There was a piece of the melted part hanging there that I sliced off. Instead of throwing it. I placed it in a red shot glass. After realizing it wasn't getting enough light I moved into a amber color cup. It looks like it like it as of right now. I have it against the glass but just far enough away to keep a little flow going threw. Pics below

There is 3 assumptions I can think of to make it melt.

1. Changing lights ( unlikely I think )

2. Not enough flow. I cut my flow almost completely for a few days. The return filter was angled at the glass to cut flow off as much as possible. ( Good possibility )

3. Cleaner shrimp came threw and ruffed it up some how. I did feed the corals some roids the night before. ( Honestly think this was the reason )

So after slicing the the melted part off I was left with a momma that was still a baby itself. I moved it back to were it was. It's making a come back but looks like it shrunk. Also, it had brown stuff under the skirt coming out from where I sliced it. It still haves color and puffyness. I don't have pictures of the brown stuff. I do have a picture of it after I sliced it a few hours earlier. The other two mushrooms in the second pic, I got the day before the o.g.

Well keep us posted. Honestly, mushrooms n general are not my cup of tea but a buddy of mine has experienced something similar due to his bounce addiction and wouldnt mind seeing a success story and hear how you went about dealing with it.

Here's a pic at night. It's not the best looking. I'll be posting in the morning.

Both melted ..... **** thappens. Good luck to any of you with this problem. I didn't even bother taking pictures.

The employee at blue fish aquarium's, outside of Cleveland. Told me that the same thing happened to them. They got a o.g bounce and the thing melted on them.

I have multiple mushrooms and this is the only one that gave me hell.

I'll like to add. Be careful when buying these. Make sure it's a wysiwyg item. I got screwed by cornbreds on this one. They sent a fresh cut frag. If it was fully healed it would have no problem like the rest of my mushrooms. After talking to someone about this. That was the best possible answer other then the three possible causes I mentioned earlier.

Buy from hobbyist not so called reputable people. They literally don't care about the coral. They just want money and no I'm not a hippie just saying from experience. Good luck y'all

When you say freshly cut do you mean they sent a partial mushroom? If it was a full mushroom it shouldn’t have needed to be cut at all….unless you mean they damaged it removing it from the rocks or something I suppose?

Yout first question is rhetorical. Not answering any questions. Last time it turned into a witch hunt.

Huh? My question was sincere, not rhetorical at all. I am unsure of what is meant by a freshly cut mushroom? That’s why I asked. If it is something that can contribute to the death of a coral it’s helpful to know what you are referring to. People cut mushrooms into pieces to propagate them. I wouldn’t be happy if I bought a mushroom and received a piece of a mushroom.
