Good question.

First, no. The trap only worked for one.

Second, I’m not sure if I have mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp. I hear snapping on the daily. I like it. I think it adds another sensory to the tank for me (sight, touch, and now hear).

I recently purchased 4 cleaner shrimp. I definitely still have at least one from what I can see. I haven’t seen any dead on the powerhead. I have a hawkfish and a melanurus wrasse, so anything’s game at this point.

I used LRS Frozen food for my successful attempt. I recommend not feeding the tank for 2 days before putting up the trap. If you are sure you know where the shrimp is, I think you can do it!
How about the skimmer for smell?

Hawkfish with a Skunk Cleaner Shrimp.

The cleaner shrimp was already in half when I saw it. The hawkfish had these antennaes for over an hour. I hope it won’t choke to death. Am I supposed to do something?

my wrasses get greedy and when my shrimp shed, they’re straight at it.
I haven’t ever seen a shed of my Boxer but I know he sheds as he gets larger every few months when I see him.

My latest obsession is with trachyphyllia and scolymia.

I raised my lights to get the bottom to 150 par.

I scanned all the ROTM (Reef of the months) to see if anyone had a brain-coral-dominated tank because I wanted to take tips from them, but I couldn’t even find one.

ROTM seems to mainly be SPS dominated tanks which helps the US as your biggest coral on the market is SPS but over here and in other countries our biggest corals on the market are Softies and LPS… SPS are actually relatively new into the LFSs over here.

Great buildb @Miami Reef

My take aways
Nice work on the system
The finisher did a great job, solvent base or water base finish?

You are warned, I am now follow/stalking. I away like build threads and watching the system come together and greening information.

Cannon EOS 70D
I have the same camera.
I used manual mode, but I highly recommend NOT taking advice from Miami Reef in photography. My photos are not good yet. I still need more work in getting my subjects in focus.

I’m learning from @maroun.c He made great stickies in the photography section. Now it’s time to take what I learned and put it to practice.
I did not think to ask @maroun.c for help.

To celebrate my achievement of figuring out why my trachyphyllia were not doing well (spoiler, it was because of my Bellus angel, Lamarck angel, and my Blue tang that nipped at them). I gave those fish back the LFS and purchased AWESOME Trachy/brain corals/fluffy LPS.

I purchased three today, and it was worth a pretty penny. I am super excited. I have a few other LPS I brought home the weeks before that I didn’t announce in this thread yet.

I can’t wait to show you them today.

Nah, you aren’t hijacking anything. :)

I personally like when my thread is getting hijacked. Especially when Ethan, Sam x^2, Aaron/Erin, Mikeson, and last but not least, S Clark AKA Mr. Anti-FTS do it!

Oh, almost forgot the crusso-kid!

Lol.

Here are the latest corals!!!!

My tank is looking absolutely fantastic! I switched my T5 bulbs to a bluer look because the corals look MUCH better!

I just made a Red Sea AB+ and Reef Chili recipe. The corals go bananas over it!
