Any way to open up the lower cabinet to the right to alow a fan over the sump to vent off to the side? Open canopy is never a good look.
I agree with you. Open canopy is really unprofessional looking.

I have an AC guy I can ask advice on how we can properly ventilate this canopy. I definitely am happy with T5’s, it’s just that I need to find a solution to properly vent it out.

It looks like you could add ventilation fans right above the lights. a little more woodwork but toally doable I think. just vent up towards the ceiling.
Its not like LEDs won't give off some heat.

It’s just one degree.. has to be a way to fix that.

I feel like you would need a **** ton of leds once the SPS frags are wall to wall SPS colonies.

Also don’t leds still need air flow? Idk enough about canopies. Can’t you just drill a hole on the top and put fans there? Or mesh?

Anywho tank looks great and a ruby red can go with a spotted Mandy just fine.

Thank you @Tamberav ! An amazing response indeed!

I left my canopy open today and there’s no change in temp. I think the house has just been a little warmer than usual because of the AC. At least I know the canopy isn’t causing the issue here. :)

Great looking setup!
Thank you! What an honor! I know you as “the sunshine reefer”. Absolutely phenomenal reef that is powered by the sun! :D

Drill a hole in the side blowing into the shelf using a vent and fan . On the other end drill out a bigger hole for the air to get sucked into also hiding with a vent for a cross ventilation . Just put Knick knacks on those two shelves . Just don’t put heat sensitive items on those shelves . You’ve got a great set up . Can’t wait to see it after it’s established .

Wow !!! It’s amazing , you must have did both tests at the same time to keep the Readings from shutting off before you took this picture
I have a hidden talent - I am a detail oriented freak lol.

I do the nitrate test first and activate the Hanna nitrate timer (nitrate has a 7 min timer). Then I do phosphates (mixing for 2 minutes exactly) and then activate the timer for the phosphate test which is 3 min.

I got both results exactly at the same second. I activate the phosphate checker timer when the nitrate timer hits 3 minutes.

I test my water a LOT so I’m able to find patterns lol.

I fixed the T5 overheating issue.

Strategically placing fans and layering the fixtures allows both fixtures to remain cool while keeping the tank rock stable at 80F. Whoot! Fans only turn on when T5s are on.
