That's a big one... Better in the qt than in your new display.

Burn it all.
Out of everyone, I thought you, the invert lover, would appreciate the bristle worm.

You don’t like bristleworms? Why doesn’t anyone like them?

I know right!?!?! I don't really mind them when they are little. But you know they aren't going to stay that way. Also, I have this thing about centipedes. They just gross me out. My last house had them everywhere, including coming out of the drain pipes. UGH it makes me shudder just thinking about it. They remind me too much of those.

I love my bristle worms. I have one that is easily over 8 inch length. Used to have 8. Population went down after adding my cbb.

Edit: I had posted a video of them in the invert section. They liked to keep in pairs.

I am indifferent to bristleworms, truthfully. I was just shocked because I handled that rock SO many times and even did the hyper salinity bath a few times and never saw anything like this come out.

Great Update!
The UV is correctly installed! It’s a little “ratchet” but it’s perfect!! I’m so happy. The build is finally complete!! All that’s left is the cabinets which is the easy part!!! Ps, I love when black background tanks look dark blue from the blue lighting. It just looks so good.

In 2 days the tank should look HD!! I cranked up the flow and I’m getting crazy surface agitation to aerate the tank and get the PH higher. Right now it’s at 8.0 but I now it can get higher with aerating. I will keep ya’ll posted.

Also, I tested my phosphates with ULR phosphorous by Hannah and it’s over 200ppb (it was over range). That means my phosphates are over 0.60ppm.

I have no idea how. I’m not over feeding but it must be from the rocks. The reason why my tank looks pristine is because I keep my lights on for 4 hours a day max and I have a lot of herbivores (tangs, 17 trochus snail, 2 tuxedo urchins, 1 pincushion urchin, and 1 dolabella sea hare). Plus I scrape it when I can. Also, My nitrates are 0.7ppm so the algae is also getting slightly limited by that.

I’m looking into getting GFO.

Today I purchased a 15 watt Aqua Ultraviolet UV sterilizer for my 20 gallon QT.

I kept getting Coolia Dino’s. I tried everything. I raised my nutrients (dosing phosphates daily and testing the nutrients). But the Dinos persisted. I gave it over a month of trying but I woke up to my nutrients bottoming out to 0.02ppm with Dino’s absolutely infesting everything.

I thought that surely everything would die. I did a rip clean and set up a brand new 20 gallon tank and transferred all the livestock to the new tank. This was a few days ago. Everything was looking great after the rip clean, and I dosed phosphates like crazy (almost reaching 0.2ppm.)

I decided I can’t let dinos ruin my quarantine tank. I purchased the UV today just get over with it.

And despite my nutrients staying elevated, dinos are congregating again! I thought the Rip clean would surely give the GHA a chance to beat them!

Yes, I know this setup is not perfect, but it’s better than Dinos.

I will update to see if the UV works. I’m hoping I can keep my nutrients at 0.03 ppm phosphates instead of having them elevated. I like the pastel acros.

I moved a piece of rock from the right side to the left because the right side was too full and the left was too naked. I did this because it looks better.

I’m considering doing a mixed reef of SPS, clams, and LPS.

I originally only wanted SPS and clams, but I think a variety of different coral colors, textures, and movements would give the tank a more dynamic look.

It will still fit the theme of a stony coral tank.
For LPS, my favorite types are goniopora and lobophyllia.

HAHA thank you for explaining that because I was struggling to see the difference. You are probably too young to remember the Highlights magazines, but thats how it felt. ;)

I purchased an ATI ICP test. If all the parameters + trace metals look good I will move some corals to the display. The kit will arrive tomorrow. I think I’ll do a water change tonight and send the ICP on Sunday.

I took these picture last night. The last photo shows a coral that was fully brown. Look how it is starting to color up already!

Today I bought 12 chromis damsels. I did a 200ppm formalin bath for 1 hour before I entered them in the QT tank.

This data is still experimental, but a HumbleFish vendor read a peer review study that showed an efficacy of tea tree and the vendor was able to REVERSE the uronema red sores with this recipe:

1ml/gallon 37% formalin, and a few drops of 100% tea tree oil dosed daily.
