One of my pair of midnight clowns has a growing spot on the caudal peduncle area on both sides that at first I thought was him just changing colors a bit. Now the other one is a little lighter in the same area and I am worried that it may be ammonia burns since my cycling was wonky (i just aded 10 lbs on sand again after I was 99% sure it was cycled fully finally after a scare and did a water test and my test measure about 0.03 mg/l ish, today its about 0.015 after a small amount of ammonia binder). They aren’t acting sick in any way shape or form, but after someone said levels of 0.02 could cause burns I am wondering if that is what is causing this color change when I thought my ammonia was zero.
I had cycled using them as the ammonia source for one and only and for two and a half weeks my ammonia was non existent, then I added some dry rock (i thought at the time it was all dry but realized I added back some rock that hadn’t been in water for a few hours that I took out to work on) and then my ammonia spiked and so I dosed ammoguard consistently while waiting for a shipment of turbo start then after adding the turbo start I have had zero ammonia. The spots started after this so I didn’t even think that it could be ammonia
