Final progress shot for the night. Started cutting and gluing in the blue pvc. I chose to use white fittings to match the sump. I do have 1 gray piece, the Spears gate valve. I used the white gate valves on my 46 gallon and they suck. I don’t think I am going to have enough 3/4” blue for the return, and BRS is out of 3/4" blue. I might make the top of the union to the bulkhead white pvc. Not sure

Sooo unexpected side effect from yesterday. Woke up in the middle of the night with my wrist killing me! Guess using cheap ratcheting pvc cutters all day was a bad idea.

Only made a little progress due to water changes today and my sore wrist but I did manage to get the drains complete. I have kinda had to rethink my return plumbing and I had to order more 3/4" blue pvc. BRS is out but I ordered some from Home Depot. Hopefully the blue matches.

Got the plumbing done today. I will leak test tomorrow when I get home from work. Surprisingly I only messed up one union by forgetting the ring. Managed to pull it apart before the glue set and redo it. Even installed a light under the cabinet. Before I started the plumbing, I decided to install the shelf that came with the stand. I like having a place to put small things. It is removable up until the tank is in its final home.

She is wet! Unfortunately it’s just tap water. Good news there is no leaks in the glued connections. Some of the unions leaked but a little tightening and everything is dry. Been tweaking the return nozzle height for siphon break so the sump doesn’t overflow and tweaking the overflow for quiet. Also picked up a couple of wave makers. I am using Jebao SLW-30s. They are the AI Nero knock offs. I have an SLW-20 and SLW-10 on my 46 gallon and I really like them. The nice thing is for those of us with the Nuvo ext tanks, they have a strong enough magnet to stick to the back wall! They also blend in really well. I put some plastic plants to test the flow and they all ended up in the corners

Small update. Not much change yet. It is still chugging along in the garage. I did finish 3D printing some filter cups. They work pretty well.
Since I just got an out break of dinos in my 46 gallon tank I have decided to go ahead and add uv sterilization to my tank. Fortunately I figured I would add it eventually so I left a spot to plumb it. Now I just got to wait until it gets here.

Nice

What printer and filament did you use to print those?

Like to see what others are using.

I have a Prusa MK3 that has been updated to a MK3S
I print mostly 3DXTech PETG

Picked up a used IM 5 gallon ATO reservoir from a local reefer today. Got a great deal. Looks good in the stand! Also got the controller box painted. If it wasn’t 100 degrees in my garage I would keep going on setting that up. My UV sterilizer should be here Monday so started mocking up the plumbing for that plus maybe a manifold.

So the UV sterilizer was longer than I expected so I had to redo a bunch of my plumbing. It was a lot of work and buying more parts but I got it mostly done. Waiting on the glue to dry before installing the vinyl tubing. Also added a ball valve in case I want to do a manifold some day.

We have UV! I finally got it plumbed and it doesn’t seem to be leaking. I have to say I am starting to get build fatigue. I just want it up and running already. I just need to finish the control cabinet then the tank will be done. Now I need to plan the takedown of my 46 gallon.

So my tank was unloaded from the trailer on Thursday and I called them on Friday and got my appointment for Monday! So excited! Also got some translucent blue PETG for my 3D printer so I can make some accessories for my sump. Last night I printed 2 filter sock silencers and they work great.
