I think they look great! Any visual signs that make you feel otherwise? No cyano or dino's?
I have a few spots of cyano. And I do mean small. They have always even there and I believe it is because they are dead spots for flow.

I have been considering a 2nd gyre to mix up the flow a bit and I’m gonna order it this week I think.

If I stir up those spots it goes away. But it’s back in a couple days.

Even if I shut down the tank to move, I will still use the gyre again.

Tank looks fantastic. Love checking out the Red Sea reefers and what folks do with them. I think the wife deserves one for our next anniversary ;)

Tank is looking Stupendous Mike :)
Thanks so much Fudsey! I absolutely love this hobby.

I just hate sitting in limbo to see if I’m gonna move back to Dayton.

I WANT MORE CORAL!

Tanks looking really good. About how far below the water line are you running your gyre? Ive been running mine right at the top to increase oxygenation of the water, but I hadnt run them lower in the tank. Seems like yours look a lot lower in the tank than mine, so I was curious.

Hi ksfulk.

I use my return for oxygenation. A 3/4” Y with nozzles aimed at the surface.

I have it centered between the front glass and front of the overflow box.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Did my testing again yesterday but football got in the way of posting!

Temp 80
Salinity 1.026
Alk 8.3
Nitrates 18-20
Phosphate 1.1

I think my tiger conch died, this the jump in nutrients compared to last week

I added a new bag of rowaphos into my reactor along with the bag of carbon I am running.

Also dosing nopox this week

Dosed Vibrant for biweekly maintenance

Everything looks good. Just don’t want to let nitrates or phosphates get out of control.

In other good news, my red line cardinals are spawning again. This is the 3rd time for them.

And I believe my cleaner shrimp is pregnant again. Snack time for the tank soon!

Hey Mike, saw y'all had MULTIPLE tornado watches and possible spin-ups in the HH area last night. Hopefully you and yours are hanging in there and doing well.

Was up on and off throughout the night for sure. Heard some some debris hitting the house during the tornado warnings. Almost daybreak so I will do a visual soon. I think we are ok. Thanks for asking

All clear. Just some small branches down and leaves everywhere. Hopefully they just blow into the neighbors yard LOL!

Heading to work in Savannah soon. Opening up the warehouse at 10. Hopefully all is well there too.

So I’m off today and it’s busy. Took the tang to the LFS. I miss him, but I am relieved and the tank seems much less stressed.

I know the foxface (Zorro) is happy.

I have already disassembled and cleaned my skimmer and UV pump. Running now in a vinegar bath.

Ready to do a 20 gallon wc.

I do my wc’s all in the sump.

I always wipe down and get the crud out first.

Here’s what I do

I have cut strips of filter material

I place it over my bubble trap material.

Place a small powerhead in the sump while I scrub a bit and ta da!

Now remove, rinse off, then wash with the next load of rags.

I also do this for a water polish now and then as I run mesh sock, not material.

That is a great idea! Off to the store to pick up some felt now. Btw, awesome build!

My 2nd gyre arrives today!

I’m looking forward to having 2 running. One has no problem moving enough water at 60% but it’s unidirectional. My green sinulara is starting to “grow with the flow”.

So I’m going to work with the reverse cycles and other cool features that get unlocked when you run 2 off the controller

They do a great job pushing water in some of the preset modes. I think you will love the way they work together.
