I prefer new anemone to attach to a coffee mug more than anything. I can lay the mug on it side and use the handle to trap the anemone and keep him from flowing around until he is attach to the mug. Then I invert the cup so the bottom point up. almost all the anemone will craw to the top of the mug. This keep them away from other animals and elevate them so that they get better current. I can move the mug around in the tank or move to hospital tank without have to detach the anemone.
When the time come I just lean the mug against the rock and the anemone will just craw off and attach himself to the rock where I want him to be.
The mug is inert and will not cause problem in hospital tank. I cannot think of anything else I rather have a new anemone attach to when I am trying to get him settle to a new tank.
Just curious on how you run your sump.
Thought I would share an update on my mixed anemone, clown harem tank. Red Sea Reefer 250 up and running 15 months, clown added 2-3 months (lost a few from jumping)
- 4 magnificas
- 4 giganteas
- 3 haddonis
- 3 btas
- 1 LTA
- 1 mini maxi
- 1 pair of occellarius
- 1 solo large saddleback
- batch of 7 occearius from a different hatch
- 1 mocha storm from a different hatch
- I have MP10, with nem protect, and MP40 sleeves as an extra precaution.
I don't really have an aggression probably so far, and I think it's because of so many HOST Anemones. But it's only 2-3 MOS and I'll keep folks updated.
Special thanks for all the education and help from @D-Nak @OrionN @chizerbunoi @Nemguy123 . Learn a lot from you all and thanks Minh for pioneering the Cipro treatment. Saved my mag.
