Month Old LRS?

Should I use LRS that it’s been in the fridge defrosted for a month?

Hey all, about a month ago I lost about a quarter cube of LRS and it’s dosing syringe in my fridge. I found them just now, opened it up, and it smells like imitation crab meat. That means, I think, that it may be still usable.

What do you guys think?

Video depiction of my dilemma.

Why defrost it at all? Pretty much any fish that is any size will pick at it in it's frozen state.

Overnight, maybe one more day is the absolute longest I'd go with defrosted food. Sticking close to human standards may waste a bit but considering you are talking about a premium fish food you've already decided fish nutrition is import so might as well error on the side of caution.

Larry's is already pretty pungent stuff but I'd probably just go by the smell when you open the package to see if it's salvageable.

I would not use, there are numerous sea borne microbes that will reproduce at fridge temperatures. Even if in the rare event none were harmful, the nutritional value of the food would have dropped drastically from microbial metabolic functions.

You were wise to discard the food. We never advise thawing more food than you can use in 24 hours. Surely, after a month in the refrigerator that seafood has spoiled. It would be no different than buying shrimp, scallop, fish, etc at the grocery store and then wanting to cook it up a month later. It's simply not worth the risk.
