Ive been vinegar dosing for 2 months, raising it 4mLs per week. I’m up to 26mLs per day now with it just getting bumped up by 4 last night. I came home today and the edge of my monti cap is either STNing or RTNing, I’ll guess I’ll find out in the morning. With my nitrates still so high, is it possible that the bump up with vinegar is causing this? I know you want to keep alk at 7ish when carbon dosing but my No3 is still high enough that it shouldn’t cause burnt tips/ends. My acros all look fine. Just the edge of this cap is the problem. No predators so we can rule that out.
Thoughts? Nothing has been changed and my ICP tests are normal. This caps been in my tank two years.

I agree with you, those params should not bleach anything with carbon dosing. Looks more like chem warfare at first glance.

Who dat in the picture down low on the right? Goniopora? They can sting. I had one crush a blasto recently when I realigned a powerhead. Only took it one day to kill all six heads.

I used to have some chalice with 2" of reach downstream. Murderous stuff.

List every potentially aggressive, upstream coral. I'd rule out warfare first.

there are a few acro’s upstream from this and the Goni looks closer than it really is. It is no where near the reach of the cap. It’s definitely STN as it hasn’t receded much more.
I’m baffled and can’t think of anything that could be causing this.

I found what it is.
Im sitting on the couch looking at the tank and see my Desjardini sailfin tang picking at it.
Very odd for a tang to be doing this.
