Well couple things, at 8 months your tank is still maturing and not stabil as you have discovered. Mine was the same but significantly better at the one year mark now. Depending on how many corals you have, a 5 gallon water change on a 100g system may not be sufficient for all of your trace elements. ICP will let you know for sure. I do 10g water change on 80g system and still have to weekly dose red sea trace elements to maintain levels. I also had to double dose neophos and neonitro when my tank was at 6 months to maintain levels. Now at one year everything is much more stable.
Possible, but Ive had multiple saltwater tanks and this is the first time this happens.

And every tank is unique as you are probably aware of too. Different bionomes depending on tank conditions, flow, lights, etc... I think you will get it figured out with your current tank to. ICP will help. I waited till about 10 months with decent coraline growth before adding SPS. Out of SPS frags introduced to the tank only one casualty and that was really do to shipping stress. I'm curious to see what your iodine and iron numbers are at with your pending test.

Well, we shall see in a couple of days. Really frustrating that this is happening oddly enough it's only montis that are acting up and some chalices. Mainly the chalices I got from reefapoolza.

But I have also noticed I have had little to NO growth. Even with stable parameters other than phosphate.

I would definitely raise those phosphates. Don't be scared of it, corals love a bit of phosphate. Just watch them as it rises and you will find a number they thrive at

How exactly does phosphates benefit corals?

It is required for coral tissue growth. Without it your corals starve. That's not to say a high amount of phosphate for a long period of time is optimal. You don't want high but you definitely don't want it at 0. Most people like to see .03. Just my opinion tho, everything in my tank was doing terrible until I stopped chasing phosphate and nitrate numbers.

But you didn’t hVe 0 phosphate? But a while now I’ve been dealing with very low phosphate. But not it’s becoming a chronic issue

Both nitrate and phosphates were bottomed out at 0 when I had the worst issues by far
Happened to me too at one point. I threw out the chaeto yesterday. Should I completely turn off the fuge light? Or just run it for like 3 hours?

Did you throw it all out or just some? If you kept some you need to keep the light on, just keep it on the same schedule.

Just as an FYI, I had two monti caps that had negative reactions (they would slime and lose color) when I was feeding Reef Roids really near them. It seemed like it irritated them so I no longer feed Roids near my montis. Nothing wrong with Reef Roids, I like it in fact just for some reason my monti caps don't like it. Maybe its just my tank but for what it's worth...

Btw, all my montis seem to love Red Sea Reef Energy AB+ aminos.

Well honestly I don't run a fuge so I'm not sure man. I probly would have kept the chaeto and dosed phos tho. I keep caulerpa in my tank just to balance things out. If there's any left I would keep it growing, if it's all gone forget about it and move on lol.
Phosphates are pretty easy to get up but it could take a while for them to even out and stay off rock bottom. Dosing every day and testing religiously to find trends is the best way. Feed fish heavier and roids are good as well but not as clean as dosing pure phos. If you have a skimmer running you could turn that off for a portion if the day as well.. I had to take mine completely off, still havnt put it back.
All this being said, it MIGHT not even be phosphates causing your issues.. but it could be. Won't know til you get it up a bit and see how your corals react.

You don't have to chunck all the chaeto next time if its growing fast, just harvest some or prune it.

When I had phos bottom out I dosed Brightwell NeoPhos. It works well but you can just feed more.

More near deaths corals.

I dosed NeoPhos yesterday and now I’m at 0.024 should I redone 5ML?

ICP test came in!

Nitrates were a bit high(But fine I dosed reefroids a couple of days prior to sending out the ICP test), and phosphates are critically low as expected.

Manganese, Iodine, and Zinc are low. I have a bottle of Red Sea Trace elements and a bottle of lugos iodine that I cant start dosing.

Just noticed my calcium is low.. according to trident right now its 416

IM happy there are no heavy metals in the water

Roids are heavy phosphates. Add some more.
