Hi,

I need a id on this please, I was assured this was not a elephant ear mushroom which was my first thought. There was a original mother colony which was the same weird shape, oblong not round spreading across a rock, like several mushrooms were joined together at their edges to make one large misshaped mushroom colony with multiple mouths. This one has five mouths but they are all part of single misshaped mushroom.

Cleaner Shrimps were happily Moving all over it in the shop, with no sign of the shroom trying to eat them.

Looks like an elephant ear (Rhodactis mussoides) to me. Nice color on it. Most I have seen are pretty drab.

Yep, after googling that it’s it for sure! Thank you

I was unaware their were two mushrooms with common name Elephant Ear the one that’s a fish eater is Amplexidiscus fenestrater. R. mussoides is less likely to catch fish or inverts.

I have one of the Elephant ears and its the same color. Very nice from Indo. Mine is around 10 inches long and 5 inches wide. One of my favorite corals in my tank. My ocean surgeons like to rub against them lol.
